22 July 2018

Both sides of the ball shifted through the gears this weekend, as the Farnham Knights took their second win of the season on Sunday 22nd July.

The Knights scored six touchdowns, including an 80-yard kick return by rookie Cameron Wilcox to open the second half. Quarterback Nick Roope had an outstanding game with two passing touchdowns, one to wide receiver Matt Wilson, and a second to tight end Harry Alexander. Roope also rushed for two touchdowns from inside five yards, with the only blemish on his stats sheet for the day being an early pick six inside the Bury red zone as the Saints defensive back returned the ball the full length of the gridiron.

The Farnham defence also had an outstanding day, holding the Bury offence to 0 points and repeatedly creating opportunities to turn the ball over. Eman Feyibunmi made two sacks from defensive end to cap an outstanding performance for a depleted defensive line. Andy Gillard led the linebackers in true veteran style, creating a forced fumble recovered by Alexi Makinen. Franno Annandale also showed his class on both sides of the ball with his first interception at safety.

The Knights go are now in the home straight of their season, with just two games to go. Bristol Aztecs are welcomed to Monkton Lane on 12th August, before the season closer at home against London Olympians a week later.
